Exploring the Magic of Beer Advertising: Behind the Scenes with Alex Grima
When you kick back with your favorite brew and catch a beer commercial on TV, have you ever wondered about the creative genius and hard work that goes into making it? Well, today, we're about to take you on an exciting journey behind the scenes of a beer ad, led by the talented Alex Grima.
What’s great about this video is that it also lists the different types of equipment they used to capture the content. From the Nanlite to the Arduino pouring arm, it’s great to know that this video is somewhat achievable in a reasonable budget. I love the mix of complex rigs and simple setups to produce a stunning video.
With product videos, it seems that the trend is to get up close and personal to get an intimate view of the product. The use of macro and probe lenses allows DP’s to shoot detailed subjects and actions that are unseen by the naked eye, captivating viewers and drawing them into the scene.
Robot arms or in this case, an arduino pouring rig, is another trendy tool these days to sync carefully timed camera movements with action. Mixed with high-speed slow motion cameras, this allows us to see certain action like pouring beer from various angles without having to cut to other angles - just capture it in one continuous take.
Much respect to Alex Grima and his team for creating such an amazing video ad for Stella!
