A Friendly And Positive Demeanor Counts
“Don’t just show up to a shoot, then don’t ever say goodbye, leave and be like “here are you files”. I’ve dealt with so many other filmmakers, they just have bad attitudes... that’s not the way to be. Be cool because it comes back”.
That quote came from Michael Reiken’s take on how a friendly demeanor goes a long way at an interview/work environment. Michael Reiken is a filmmaker and an entrepreneur that runs a media company called Aristokat Media. Additionally, he owns a teeth whitening company called White Smile. Revisit this podcast interview to hear us discuss about making the best video content with inexpensive equipment, the importance of working at bigger companies to learn how to be a professional when you have your own business, remaining patient when building a company/product, and being okay with lower pay rate jobs to build a network and relationship with clients.

Why It Is Time to Include Video Content For Your Business
Have you noticed that your competitors are utilizing social media platforms to advertise their companies?
Thought to yourself that it might be time to include video marketing strategies for your business to gain a competitive edge as well?
Yes! It is true that video marketing has gained a lot of traction over the past decade, and it is not too late to begin publishing video content today for your business. We have provided this article guide so that you can understand why there is a lot of untapped potential in implementing videos for your brand today.
Perhaps a potential customer has landed on your page, what’s next? The goal would be to ensure that they don’t just leave after clicking on your page and that you can provide engaging yet straightforward content for them to explore. A well-placed video in the landing page to handle explaining a product/service can help clarify more about the benefits of purchasing from you. LSA conducted a survey that showed 44% out of 2000 people surveyed viewed at least one online video looking for products/services, making videos an amazing medium for explanation to consumers. Due to convenience, many consumers would rather watch a video than read when learning about a product/service option.
Furthermore, maybe you are enjoying some success with your business and your competitors don’t have social media pages yet. While others may be complacent, it is an opportunity to establish authority in your industry and reach out to a bigger potential target audience. 80% of viewers can recall an ad that they’ve watched in the past 30 days, meaning an effective video can help shape your brand’s reputation and identity.

Video Uploading Tips: Instagram Edition
New to posting videos on Instagram? Looking for video uploading rules or strategies to implement so your videos don’t look cut off in your profile? Don’t worry! We’ve got you covered with our video that goes into the basic tips into uploading videos on Instagram. We explain the certain aspect ratios, resolution sizes, as well as the recommended device needed to upload videos onto the platform. Know all the components of uploading to Instagram, and soon your videos will be IG ready!
Instagram is probably one of, if not the most confusing platforms to upload videos to. With what seems like a million different aspect ratios and rules, it can be overwhelming. That’s why we’re here to provide you with the basics and have you racking up views and likes in no time.
First of all, there are two types of videos on Instagram: regular videos, which are under 60 seconds, and IGTV videos, which are over 60 seconds. Each of the two types of videos has two aspect ratios. Regular videos can have aspect ratios of either 1.9:1 or 4:5, while IGTV can have videos with aspect ratios of either 16:9 or 9:16. IGTV videos, on top of being over 60 seconds in length, have to be both an MP4 file and under a 3.6 GB file size.
IGTV videos, similar to YouTube, have thumbnails, which is a picture that users see before viewing the video. These thumbnails have a totally different aspect ratio of 1:1.55. The minimum resolution of them can be 492 x 792 pixels, but Instagram recommends a resolution of 1240 x 1920 pixels.
While Instagram can be used on both mobile devices and computers, it is very limited on computers. The only videos you can upload from computers are IGTV videos, not regular videos. Keep this in mind when you need to upload regular videos.
Lastly, you can connect your Instagram and Facebook accounts to allow simultaneous uploads between the two platforms. This can be very helpful in reducing time if you run multiple social media pages.

Evolving Your Art Without Constraint
“I think that one thing artists can do is you can still have art that your audience likes that sells and you can kinda tweak it and evolve it and at the same time, say, hey, I have this other body of art that’s very experimental that I’m developing”. This quote came from episode 18 as Nancy Hillis explained that you don’t have to conform your art to what galleries wanted while trying to evolve it. Nancy is an abstract artist, author and a Stanford trained existential psychiatrist that runs a program counseling artists with psychotherapy to overcome creative blocks. Revisit the podcast episode as we touched on topics that include finding freedom in constraint and structure, embracing ugly paintings, significance of working consistently on your craft, creating a safe and vulnerable space for ideas to flow and more.

Video Marketing Guide - The Benefits Of Hiring A Video Production Agency
Too busy running your business to have time producing video content for it?
How can video production services help my business out?
While pondering ways to produce video content to market their businesses, owners will come across the idea of hiring a video production agency to achieve this goal. It is possible to produce your own video content, but there are certainly benefits to spending money towards an agency to produce for you. In this guide, we will discuss the benefits when you choose to go that route.
When you hire a production agency, the most notable benefit is saving time. A business owner will likely have to oversee other aspects of their company and won’t have enough time to produce quality content on their own. Hire a production crew and let them handle it while you focus on other needs within your company.
Additionally, producing video content that is high quality on a consistent basis sometimes requires better equipment (expensive camera, sound system, etc.). Once you task a video crew to assist in your production, you can start to focus on sharing with them your video marketing goals and not worry about having the capabilities to carry them out.

Better Video Marketing Tactics To Attract Millennials And Gen Z
Does your target audience include Millennials and Generation Z?
What adjustments should you make to your video content for them?
More likely, you’ll realize that your target audience will involve customers born 1981-2000. Compared to the past, these two generations were mired with social media and digital technology growing up, making video marketing strategies crucial in capturing them for your business. Here are some ways you can connect better with these demographics in your customer base in your video content.
Start by considering having testimonial videos of your product’s success. One of the key things that these younger generations look for is authenticity and when they see that previous customers have enjoyed your products, it encourages them to have a longer look at your company. Of course, you might have to offer an incentive for them to put up a video of a product review, but it sends a positive message to your potential customers when they see others raving about their purchase.
Try incorporating animations into your video content. You are speaking to a target audience that likely grew up watching Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon and studies have shown that Millennials are 80% percent more likely to watch a video while researching for a product. Whether you opt for a testimonial, how-to, or product demonstration of your product/services, cartoons can help you better connect with these younger generations.

Video Marketing Guide - 10 Best Videos For Business
Marketing is absolutely integral to growing and your business and expanding your customer base. Video marketing can be an extremely effective form, if done right. We’ve compiled a list of 10 types of videos for marketing, to help you decide which ones fit best for your business.
#1 - Product Videos. Product videos should be a part of just about any business’ marketing campaign. These videos showcase your product, or service, how it works, and what benefits it provides to the customer. These can also be used to provide updates to existing products that have undergone recent changes.
#2 - Explainer Videos. Explainer videos are, no pun intended, self explanatory. They discuss a particular problem and explain how to solve it. These videos are generally, but not always, animated, and tend to be shorter in length, depending on the problem discussed.
#3 - Onboarding Videos. These videos are meant to attract new employees to your business, but explaining the employee’s duties, benefits, and potentially offer a bit of training. As these videos are not marketed towards general audiences, their production value can be lower than that of other videos.
#4 - Internal Training Videos. Internal training videos are in many ways, expanded onboarding videos. They are more in-depth, offering information about topics such as the company’s rules, mission, departments, and so on. These videos should be no longer than 10 minutes to prevent boredom, and generally 10 to 20 will be made for an average training session.
#5 - Testimonial Videos. Since consumers nowadays are constantly bombarded with half-truths about a product, they often want to see opinions from a regular person. These videos, generally under 5 minutes, provide just that, with a customer giving their experience on the product. The people in this must be real people, not actors.
#6 - Promotional Videos. Promotional videos promote something related to your business, such as an event or product launch. These videos should contain both information about the event, as well as a call to action, such as an option to RSVP.
#7 - Company Culture Videos. These videos showcase the work environment at your business, helping to both humanize your video to potential customers as well as attract potential employees.
#8 - Social Videos. Social videos, with the advent of social media, are likely the most common videos on this list. These videos tend to be short, under 1 minute or even 30 seconds, fun, and flashy. It’s important to do research, as formats and demographics will differ between various social media platforms.
#9 - Sales Presentations. Sales presentations can be recorded, and show the value of your company’s product or service, as well as providing a call to action. These are obviously more informative than interesting, but should still be made entertaining, and be under 3 minutes in length if possible.
#10 - Livestreams. Live streams are great for getting engagement from users. They can be used to host webinars, seminars, or even share big announcements. These can be just about as long as you want, but need to still be as high quality and entertaining as possible.

How Creativity Makes Us More Human
“You’ll have a middle-class predictable job if you have domain expertise and something technical - but if you actually want to lead in that world, then you’ll need to have a set of skills or a set of aptitude that we associate with the humanities. Creativity among them” This is a clip of Alec Ross speaking out about how having creativity is what divides us from artificial intelligence and helps us stand among others in the workforce. Alec Ross was the Senior Advisor of Innovation for Hillary Clinton while she was Secretary of State and is a technology policy expert who wrote the New York Times bestseller “The Industries of The Future”. This podcast interview includes talks about how technology can desensitize creativity, why creativity is still important to humans as we progress along advancing technologies, and how exercising can help you get out of a rut and boost creativity.

Aspect Ratios In Social Media
As a filmmaker in the modern era, it’s crucial to promote your content on various social media platforms. But you may notice that the way video appears differs between platforms. For example, YouTube displays video as a rectangle, while Instagram is more square-shaped. This is because of a video’s aspect ratio. There are multiple aspect ratios out there, and it can be confusing to keep track of which platform has which aspect ratio. We’re here to help you with exactly that.
So first of all, what exactly is an aspect ratio? Aspect ratio is a ratio of the width to the height of an image. So an image with an aspect ratio of 1.79 to 1, or 16 to 9, will be longer than an image with an aspect ratio of 1 to 1, which will be a perfect square.
1 - 16:9. The 16:9 is the rectangular aspect ratio you have likely seen more than any other. The platforms that use 16:9 include Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, and Linkedin.
2 - 9:16. The 9:16 aspect ratio is designed to roughly fit the size of the average smartphone. Sometimes 16:9 videos are put in a 9:16 aspect ratio, with the rest of the space being filled with colour, text, or graphics. Platforms that use 9:16 are Snapchat, Instagram (IGTV), Tiktok, Pinterest and Facebook (Stories).
3 - 1:1. The 1:1 aspect ratio is, as its name would suggest, a perfect square. Platforms that use it include Instagram (Thumbnails) and Facebook.
4 - 4:5. The 4:5 aspect ratio is slightly bigger (taller) than the 1:1 aspect ratio. Platforms that use it include Instagram and Facebook.
Ensure That Your Sound Quality Is On Par With Your Video
Bad sound can ruin your pretty video.
A video can be shot perfectly but the person talking is barely audible - not a good move. Some say that sound makes or breaks a short film, and that also applies to your video if it involves audio as the main component like tutorials, testimonials, or interviews.
Invest in a good sound person or sound package to make sure your sound is captured correctly. It’s important for your video’s survival and makes it more understandable for your audience. If I can’t hear the person talking, then the visuals better entice me to keep me on board.
Have you watched a video recently with bad sound and it forced you to turn it off?
